A bareboat charter means the crew is not included in your charter price; you or your hired crew are responsible for operating the yacht, similar to renting a car.
A crewed charter, on the other hand, includes Toronto Yachts’ permanently hired crew, who are responsible for both operating the vessel and ensuring your well-being. Toronto Yachts offers both options.
Before booking with any company, always request their Transport Canada Approved Insurance and Transport Canada Safety Inspection Certificate or Small Vessel Compliance Permit to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Toronto Yachts is the only Transport Canada-licensed yacht charter and boat Rental Company in Downtown Toronto, offering crewed charter services in the Power Yacht category for yachts with a capacity of 489 or fewer passengers. Numerous yacht operators are unable to legally provide this service due to Transport Canada’s stringent safety equipment, procedures, and extensive personnel training requirements. Consequently, some operators advertise the service illegally, risking public safety.

Please note that boarding starts at the beginning of the reserved start time, regardless of your arrival time. Any late arrival will reduce your total time on board. We permit 30 minutes of early access for the DJ to set up before the scheduled start time.
Single-Floor, Double-Decker, and Signature Sailboats (2-24 passengers):
For safety reasons, due to potential rough waters at the dock, we will begin boarding all passengers at once when everyone is present and ready. Please note that your paid charter time starts at the reserved slot time, and any late arrival will reduce your total time on board. For example, if your 4-hour charter is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and you arrive at 12:45 PM, your booking will still conclude at 4:00 PM.
The first 10 minutes of your paid charter time and the last 10 minutes are allocated for boarding and disembarkation. For example, if your 4-hour charter is booked from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, boarding will start at 12:00 PM, the Mega Yacht will depart at 12:10 PM, and it will dock back by 3:50 PM. All passengers are expected to be disembarked by 4:00 PM.
Late disembarkation past the booked charter time will result in a 30-minute charge.
Mega Yacht Charters (2-100 Guests):
We will commence boarding all passengers at the start of the booking time slot. It is at the client’s discretion whether to depart immediately or wait for any remaining guests. However, any delay in departure will reduce your total time on board.
For example, if your 4-hour charter is booked from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and you choose to wait until 12:45 PM for remaining guests, your booking will still conclude at 4:00 PM.

Single-Floor, Double-Decker, and Signature Sailboats:
We have installed anti-slip teak and/or synthetic wood flooring on all of our Single-Floor, Double-Decker, and Signature Sailboats, which are most effective when you’re barefoot to prevent slips and falls. To protect the yacht’s flooring and decks from damage, we enforce a no-shoe policy. Our crew will gladly collect and store your shoes in one of the yacht’s storage compartments.
Exceptions to this policy are made for elderly individuals or those with medical conditions who require wearing shoes.

Yes – Toronto Yachts is proud to be the only yacht charter company in downtown Toronto approved by Transport Canada and licensed to serve alcohol on yachts with a capacity of under 100 passengers. This exclusive designation allows our guests to legally enjoy alcoholic beverages while cruising through Toronto Harbour.
Onboard our licensed vessels, alcohol is available for purchase, creating a safe and fully compliant environment for celebration and relaxation. No other company in the region holds both a valid Liquor License and Transport Canada operating approval for yachts with a capacity of 100 passengers or fewer—both of which are legally required.
Imagine sipping champagne with loved ones while sailing past Toronto’s skyline—that’s what we offer with complete legal assurance.
We also offer select yachts without a Liquor License, where clients are permitted to bring their own alcoholic beverages at no additional charge while the yacht is stationary or anchored. However, open alcohol is strictly prohibited on any moving power vessel without a Liquor License, and violations can result in fines and criminal charges.
Important: On our Mega Yacht and the Empress of Canada, all alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including soft drinks, must be purchased onboard. Outside drinks are not permitted, ensuring consistency with our Liquor License requirements and guest safety standards.
Yes—on our Single-Floor and Double-Decker yachts, you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, and our crew will gladly serve them to you during your charter.

Your crew members fulfill multiple roles onboard—the Captain also acts as Chief Engineer, while servers often double as First Mates, assisting with everything from safety procedures to storytelling, barbecuing, and diving instruction. Their goal is to ensure your experience is both enjoyable and seamless from start to finish.
Gratuity is customary in the service industry, typically ranging between 10–20% of the base charter cost, depending on your level of satisfaction. This gratuity represents a meaningful portion of the crew’s income and reflects appreciation for their dedication and service.
Please note that Toronto Yachts does not deduct or retain any portion of gratuities—100% goes to the hardworking crew who serve you onboard.
Light rain typically does not warrant a cancellation, as it often lasts only an hour or two during the summer months. In such cases, we can usually adjust the timing of the trip to accommodate and ensure a pleasant experience for all passengers. While we operate in all weather conditions, our preference is always for clear skies and sunshine.
However, in the event of heavy rain or unsafe weather conditions, we ask clients to provide us with three alternative dates and times in order of preference. We will then make every effort to reschedule the charter for one of these options. It’s important to note that weather-induced rescheduling is solely at the discretion of the Captain and not the client.
We always recommend rescheduling your booking as it incurs lower charges. However, if you choose to cancel your booking up to 15 days prior to the departure date, you will receive a full refund minus a 30% merchant and administration fee, this charge is not based on 30% of the deposit paid, but rather 30% of the total invoice amount. Cancellations made within 15 days of the booking date are non-refundable, and the full amount is due. Please contact us directly to cancel or reschedule your booking, and we will assist you accordingly.
You can reschedule your booking, subject to availability, up to 72 hours prior to the departure date for a rescheduling fee of 20% of the total invoice. Bookings rescheduled within 72 hours up to 24 hours from the departure date are subject to a 30% rescheduling fee. Bookings that are rescheduled within 24 hours of the departure date are subject to a 50% charge. These charges of 20%, 30%, or 50% are not based on the deposit paid, but rather on the total invoice amount. Please contact us directly to reschedule your booking, and we will assist you accordingly.
